Following a nine-year hiatus, Sahara Las Vegas has reintroduced a live poker room starting today, February 14, at 10am.
Last year, the property formerly called SLS Las Vegas underwent a $150 million renovation and reintroduced itself as the iconic Sahara, a brand that traces its roots back to 1952. As part of this transformation, it was announced that a poker room would also be included in the new and improved establishment.
Steven Pique is currently overseeing the poker room as its manager, having previously held the position of floor supervisor at the renowned Aria poker room.
Today signifies the room's gentle introduction, while the highly anticipated grand opening will take place on February 21.
Unleash the excitement of Sahara's poker cash games.
The Sahara poker room is equipped with seven tables, where players can enjoy cash games such as Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Seven Card Stud, and mixed games. The availability of these games may vary based on demand.
The Sahara poker room's website states that they offer a discount on their cash game rake, which is set at 10% up to $4. This is actually a pretty good deal, especially when you consider that the typical maximum rake in Las Vegas is $5 these days. Additionally, the poker room implements a $1 jackpot drop whenever the pot reaches $10. This money goes towards funding exciting promotions such as progressive jackpots and Flush Frenzy. It's a smart way for the poker room to keep the games exciting and reward players for their participation.
Sahara poker tournaments
PokerAtlas provides information on a range of exciting Texas Hold'em tournaments taking place daily. Among these events, there are four exhilarating no limit tournaments that poker enthusiasts can indulge in. To kickstart the day, the first tournament begins at 10:30am offering players a chance to showcase their skills. With a reasonable buy-in of $50, participants also benefit from a staff bonus, adding an extra layer of excitement to the game. As the tournament commences, players are equipped with a generous stack of 10,000 chips, providing ample opportunities to strategize and outmaneuver their opponents. The initial level sets the stage with blinds starting at 100/100, ensuring an engaging start to the competition. To keep the momentum going, blinds consistently increase at a steady pace of every 15 minutes, adding an element of thrill and challenge to the game.
The afternoon tournaments at 2pm, 5pm, and 9pm offer a $60 prize pool, which includes the staff bonus. These tournaments follow the same structure as the morning tournament.
TableCaptain has discovered a collection of Sahara live game listings.
I'm excited to share some intriguing news about the poker scene in Las Vegas! Let's start with the poker room at Sahara, which will be utilizing the innovative TableCaptain poker room management software. This cutting-edge platform is powered by none other than PokerAtlas, a renowned website specializing in live poker information and data. Interestingly, Westgate, another prominent establishment in Las Vegas, is the sole other poker room in the city that employs this remarkable application. It's worth noting that Westgate holds the distinction of being the most recent poker room to have opened in the dazzling city of Las Vegas.
The latest poker room on Las Vegas Strip, the first one in years since 2015.
Since August 2015, when Linq unveiled its poker room on the Strip, there hasn't been any new poker room introduced until now. However, the Sahara poker room has finally broken this streak by becoming the first new establishment of its kind. Interestingly, the Linq poker room, after a while, merged with the already existing Harrah's poker room located next door.
Since 2011, a staggering 27 poker rooms in Las Vegas have shut down, leaving enthusiasts with limited options. However, the recent opening of Sahara's new poker room has brought a glimmer of hope. Now, with a total of 31 poker rooms in the city, players have more opportunities to indulge in their favorite card game. Interestingly, the closure of The Strat's poker room in October 2019 marked the end of an era, making Sahara's poker room the last one standing in the area. This development has certainly piqued the interest of poker enthusiasts, who can now look forward to thrilling games and exciting tournaments at Sahara.
The Sahara poker room shut down in 2011, right before the entire property closed.
In April 2011, the Sahara poker room, which had been known for its lively 2/4 fixed limit Texas Hold'em game and well-structured daily tournaments, sadly closed its doors. The closure of the poker room actually preceded the complete shutdown of the entire property, as the SLS Las Vegas renovation was set to take place. However, it wasn't all doom and gloom for the dedicated poker enthusiasts, as a number of both staff and players from the Sahara poker room made the smooth transition and relocated their thrilling poker action to the ever-vibrant Stratosphere.
