California Hotel  & Casino is one of three Boyd Gaming properties in downtown Las Vegas. It caters to tourists from Hawai\u2019i. Boyd Gaming operates junkets from there to Las Vegas while offering several dining options specializing in Island specialties. The motto is \u201cAloha Spoken Here.\u201d The other downtown Las Vegas Boyd Gaming Casinos are Main Street Station<\/a> and Fremont<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The property is often described as The Cal. There are about 900 slot machines and 20 table games<\/a> at California. There are about 30 coin video poker machines. These are located by the Ogden entrance and near the front desk. There are three restaurants, an ice cream shop, a chocolate shop, a hotel, and a convention space at The Cal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

California offers a large variety of video poker games among its 900 slot machines. A handful still operate on quarters and dollar coins. Many of the others have progressives for a royal flush. Many of the slots are old-fashioned reels with network progressive jackpots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most tables at The Cal are double-deck blackjack<\/a>. This game pays 3\/2 and permits double down before but not after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17. There is a six-deck $10 game with the same rules, except that it pays 6\/5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

California craps odds<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

California Casino offers the lowest craps odds in Las Vegas. It is only double odds. The field pays triple on 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entertainment near California<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are no forms of entertainment at California beyond gambling and the sports bar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there are no live entertainment options on the property, multiple activities and a few shows are available downtown. Some activities are free, such as concerts and the Viva Vision light shows on Fremont Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neonopolis – 450 E Fremont Street<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the intersection of East Fremont and Las Vegas Boulevard, Neonopolis offers multiple entertainment venues. Open seven days a week, Axehole Vegas<\/a> is an indoor axe-throwing spot available from 10am to midnight. Hourly sessions allow guests to test out a selection of weaponry, including spears, ninja stars, metal throwing cards, shovels, and of course, the classic axe. To let out a little more steam, they even have a smash room where you get 15 minutes to demolish everything around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seven showrooms inside the Notoriety Theater in Downtown Las Vegas host comedy shows and a number of other performances. Shows typically last between 75 to 90 minutes. Doors open 30 minutes prior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
